Travel Days:
Here are the kids on our long road trip back to the West. The kids did very well, and as seen here even slept at times. Olivia only took 1/2 hour naps on the way out, which made for a little bit of grouchy times. Luke and Brooklyn in the back had fun watching movies, and Luke played on his Game Boy. We made it to North Platte, Nebraska. We wanted to let the kids swim, but the pool was closed for cleaning.
Luke was tired and grouchy by the end of this day. He decided for us (too bad he didn't get his way) that we were turning around and going home the next day. He was miserable. He had BAD Poison Ivy (he had contracted it a week before we left), and was having an allergic reaction on his ears to some sunscreen he had used before we left. They were swollen, red, hot, and itchy. His legs were itching horribly, and we hadn't been able to find the source of the Poison Ivy so it kept getting worse. It had moved all the way up his legs by that night. I almost took him to the Emergency Room that night. He was finally able to sleep, and we went on the next day.
The following day was again another good one. We made it to Salt Lake City by about 7:30 PM. It was "fun" to cross through the rest of Nebraska and into Wyoming. I loved watching the terrain change along the way. I was so happy to see mountains again. I loved in Wyoming seeing the Windmills. My dream is to "grow up" and have a Windmill farm. I love Windmills.
We dropped Angella and her kids at her parents house and we carried on to Layton to stay at my brother, Neil's house. We got there late, it was already dark. I couldn't see the roadsigns while trying to find my brother's house. Luke was the hero, and helped to guide us by reading them and got us there safely. Thanks, Luke, mom was really scared.
Neil and Becca were gone so we had the house to ourselves. It was HOT. They had turned off the AC while they were gone, so it was a dry, intense temperature of 90 degrees. We were so happy to be out of the car, none of us cared. The house cooled down, except our room, which was over the garage- it continued to be an oven, none the less, we were able to get some sleep.
